Duke

Duke found his forever home!

I am told the story goes a little like this…

Duke came to the shelter August of 2021 having been surrendered by his owner.  Confused and lonely Duke adjusted never giving up hope he would eventually find his person and forever home.  In September of 2021 Duke was adopted but quickly returned as it just wasn’t the right fit for him.  Duke’s search continued.

Having recently purchased his first home, Mr. Simon was thrilled, but still felt like something was missing.  It was then he made the decision to give a special dog a new home and happy life.  Starting his adventure, he searched local shelters in the area and discovered the dog he wanted to meet at the Kershaw County Humane Society.  Arriving at the shelter he was informed that the dog he originally wanted to meet was not available.  Mr. Simon walked up and down the adoption hallway and found a wiggly butt that was dying to go for a walk.  It was… you guessed it… DUKE!  Duke began rolling around with his blanket, acting like such a goofball, Mr. Simon knew he had to walk him.  Duke pulled and pulled, because he was so excited.  It was then Mr. Simon knew he had to take him home and give him a chance.  On July 14, 2022 it became official!!  Duke’s new daddy adopted and gave him his forever home.  Duke finally found his person!

Duke spends his days playing in his back yard and has recently celebrated his birthday.  Duke loves playing tug-of-war with his favorite toy (a yellow giraffe), going for walks, meeting new people and getting pets, watching TV, and naps on the couch.  We are told there isn’t very much he doesn’t like accept going to long without being petted.
